Research Topic

Generative AI for Green and Smart IoT Applications

Research Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized the way we create and interact with the digital world by interconnecting a diverse range of devices and systems. In the past few years, the amount of data collected, transmitted, and processed by computer systems has grown enormously; nevertheless, as the IoT landscape expands, new challenges arise. The aim of the proposed research activity is to explore the potential synergy between Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen-AI), so-called Generative Models, and IoT. The proposed study intends to investigate how Generative models, in particular Large Language Models (LLMs) as Generative Pretrained Transformers (GPTs), and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), can be harnessed to unlock new possibilities within the IoT domain. By training these models on IoT data sourced from different IoT domains, such as smart cities, healthcare and Industry 5.0, this research aims to develop Green Gen-AI model capable of comprehending, generating, and suggesting content specific to the IoT context
